The Rhythms of our (h)Art at John Rupert Theatre, Graaff-Reinet

Date: 11th December 2014

The Rhythms of our (h)Art promises to be a showcase well-worth attending.

Under the direction of Kara-Lynn Crankshaw and Christie Pütter the production will be held at the John Rupert Theatre for one night only on Thursday the 11th of December.

It will feature various local talents performing a variety of acts in the music, dance and dramatic genres. The curtain lifts at 18:30, however doors open at 18:00.

Tickets will be sold at the door as well as two days prior (9th-10th) at the theatre from 08:00-18:00. You can expect to hear music from current artists including Michael Buble and Colbie Callait as well as some classics such as Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and The Beatles. A couple of our performers will be showcasing their own compositions. All singers will be accompanied by a live band featuring a studied percussionist.

Kara-Lynn is an Old Unionite currently studying toward a bachelor’s degree in music at the University of the Free State and has experience in vocal coaching, performance and is an accomplished musician. Christie is also an Old Unionite and is studying at the University of Cape Town. In 2013 she studied a course in music production and audio engineering where she learnt the skills necessary to bring a production to stage and furthered her abilities as a musician. These two have seen a gap in the cultural opportunities in Graaff-Reinet and have decided to put together a variety concert, not only for the enjoyment of those who attend but also to give the aspiring young musicians, actors and performers in the area an opportunity to learn and grow their talent while making new friends and performing in front of an audience. They believe that there is power in art to reach people.

Tickets are R40.00 for adults and R20.00 for children under the age of 12 years. All are welcome to attend; this is one you don’t want to miss!
